‘Tis The Season To Talk Again About My FLIP HD Camcorder

9 months of ownership and I’m still a happy owner of the Flip MinoHD Camcorder, 60 Minutes (Black) by Pure Digital.

The newest one is the Flip UltraHD Camcorder, 120 Minutes (Black)

PROS:

Simple to use
Great image quality
Small, very light, and convenient to carry with you anywhere
Perfect companion for your laptop (works great with my MacBook Pro & iMovie 09)
Easy to transfer video to your computer with the built-in USB

CONS:

Prone to plenty of camera shake due to its diminutive size
HD files are big so it takes a while to render and upload onto the web
Digital zoom instead of a mechanical zoom
White balance is a little on the warm side, especially in low light
Wishing it had a wider angle lens

Nate was begging me to shoot footage of him operating his old E-Maxx RC truck, so of course I did! This thing is pretty quick, even on semi-conditioned batteries. I edited it on iMovie 09 with a little Garage Band track. Check it out!

Tim Halberg - just got my flip mino hd!! so excited to play with it!

(bummed… in some usb slots it slides in ok, and in others, unless I absolutely force it, it doesn’t wanna slide in)

aileen - my 3 year old son came over while i was watching this, and he was fascinated. we watched it about 4 times. i think the remote-control car we got him for Christmas will go over well. we also got one of our daughters a flip, but turns out she just wants a point and shoot. i think i’m keeping that flip.
