Every once in a while my friends & I just go out & experiment with light. No real agenda, just hanging out with friends who happen to be photographers with a handful of flashes and Pocket Wizards. Noah Hayes, Kimberly Brooke, Julia MacInnis, Rebecca Merson, Kyle & Megan Nosal met up in Westminster, MD at Kim’s uber cool studio for some good shooting and good times. Later we had a delicious italian dinner at A Little Bit of Tuscany. Thanks Kim for getting us together, can’t wait to come back to your stomping grounds!
Here are some fun behind-the-scenes shots and a few of my model shots.
-

- Friend & photographer Rebecca Merson graciously volunteered to do a little bit of modeling for us. Both Rebecca & the light looked beautiful! The group set up the lights to overpower the setting sun.
-

- Sometimes I like a little silhouette =) In this case, I shut off my pocket wizard so the flashes wouldn’t fire. I kinda like the result!
-

- Here’s what most of us were really working with… yeah, that’s how we roll sometimes, lol.
-

- Here are sisters Kim & Rebecca showing us how it’s done

- Kim & Rebecca had their friend Bassin model for us, she did great! Here I was testing out different settings in-camera to balance ambient with the flashes that were firing from the left of the frame.
-

- I really liked the lights Noah & Kim set up for us, pretty nice for a quick shoot.
-

- Go Kim! LOL
-

- Noah & his umbrellas… they actually come in handy for diffusing (or softening) the light by having the flashes shoot through it.
-

- Julia working her stuff with Bassin inside the nearby barn.
-

- I like the light we were getting in this shot… both from outside the barn (natural light from the right) and flashes from the left of the frame.
-

- More behind-the-scenes… to the left you can see Kyle’s hand holding one flash, while the other one is clamped onto the wall – thanks Noah!

-

- Light from the a light stand on the left, a flash clamped above to the right. I did a little post-processing to give it a warmer & moody tone.
